Khant is an impressive site indeed. The great city is, in truth, one gigantic pyramid-like structure more than a city. A man-made hive made of stone, metal and wood. Khant is set slightly off shore, with a square base that anchors it firmly in the ground and is rather large - a few hundred square feet with a long and wide bridge that connects it to the shore. The walls of the city are tall - several hundred feet - and slant slightly as they go up, gradually tapering to a point which houses the governmental offices.

Khant's base is ringed with a wide stone pathway that is further ringed by an arrangement of docks and such for boats and is usually swarmed by merchants hocking wares, shipmasters loading or unloading supplies/passengers, and people out for a stroll.

Inside Khant is a sprawling maze of corridors with the occasional large open space to break the monotony. The lower levels of Khant are among the poorest and least beautiful, while the higher levels are occupied by the richest and most powerful, and are exquisitely decorated.

Despite this the quality of life isn't all that terrible, as even the most cramped apartment will have plumbing and a bed to lay your tired self to rest on.

In Khant the big power players are the Guilds, who are composed primarily of a profession or related professions. The lesser guilds are ones such as the Culinary Guild which is made mostly of chefs while more power guilds are the aptly named Fighter's and Mage's guilds, who are focused on combat and magic respectively. There are whispers of guilds of thieves and assassins but the government and the guards quickly dismiss these as mere rumors. Still, occasionally someone goes missing and never turns up - or people find their bleached bones...and there's the occasional high-profile robbery where a culprit is never found.

While the Guilds have great political clout however, the government holds the most control; it's laws are enforced by the well-armored and well-armed Guardsmen of Khant. The only place untouched by their rule are the sewers.

But only a desperate criminal will attempt to hide in the sewers rather than try to flee by stowing away in a visiting boat, swimming, or running across Khant's heavily guarded bridge. The sewers are said to be inhabited by deadly predators who prey on any foolish enough to enter.

In Khant, a man can live a humble life, aspire to great things, or end up screaming his last in a beast's belly if he angers the wrong people or sticks his nose in places it ought not be. Watch yourself, Stranger.
